Mooroopna could be getting its own bike complex and dog park, with the federal coalition pledging $525,000 for the project if elected.
The proposed site is at the town’s harness racing complex and forms part of the Mooroopna Recreation Reserve master plan.
Federal Member for Nicholls Sam Birrell said the community needed its own facilities.
“Mooroopna is a growth corridor and with added population comes the need for infrastructure,” Mr Birrell said.
“It is important to the people of Mooroopna that facilities are located where they live and not across the causeway in Shepparton.”
Greater Shepparton City Council is expected to contribute an additional $95,000 to support the project.
“The number of unauthorised dirt jumps being constructed on crown land has increased throughout Greater Shepparton in recent years,” he said.
“A dedicated bike park in Mooroopna will provide a permanent home for enthusiasts and improve safety.
“The addition of an off-leash dog park will also be great for dog owners in Mooroopna and surrounds.”
The coalition has also promised $600,000 to support car park upgrades at Kilmore’s JJ Clancy reserve along with a separate $100,000 commitment to build a BMX and mountain bike jumps track in Kilmore.
